The Birth of ‘Pembroke Pub Poetry’

For the past year, Ben has been a fixture at the local Poetry Group, but he wasn’t just there to listen. With his camera in one hand and a sketchbook in the other, Ben set out to capture the "Aura" of every member. He acted as the group’s official photographer, documenting the magic of their live sessions, before turning each poet into a unique BCP Toon character.

A Published Milestone

The result of this year-long "hyper-focus" is now official: ‘Pembroke Pub Poetry’ has been published! Ben’s bespoke cartoons bring the verses to life, giving the book a vibrant, character-driven energy. It’s a proud moment for Ben, seeing his work move from a pub lounge to the pages of a professional collection (now available on Amazon).

The "Entwined" Universe

But the story doesn't end on the final page. Because Ben "gets to know" his subjects so deeply, many of these real-life poets have now migrated into his own Graphic Novels and Picture Books. By blending the "spark" of real people with his fictional worlds, Ben creates stories that feel authentic and lived-in.

What’s Next for BCP?

This summer is set to be Ben’s busiest yet! He is diving back into his studio to finish new creative projects and is preparing to open the BCP Pop-Up Shop in Pembroke. With one book already on the shelves, Ben is more determined than ever to get his original Graphic Novels published and shared with the world.
